Sinus lift and bone grafting

A sinus lift raises the floor of the sinus above the upper back teeth and adds bone beneath it, and a bone graft rebuilds bone where the jaw has thinned, so every implant has solid bone to hold it. Dr. Nabeel Al Nahhas does both: crestal and lateral sinus lifts, block bone grafts with PRF from your own blood, ridge splitting and piezo bone surgery. He also places graftless implants, and on your 3D scan he shows you which path gives you strong, lasting teeth with the least surgery.

Who it is for

  • Upper back teeth missing for years, where the sinus has dropped into the space above them.
  • A jaw that has thinned or narrowed after extractions or years of wearing a denture.
  • Bone lost to an accident or injury, rebuilt so implants can follow.
  • Front teeth where the implant has to stand in an exact position for a natural-looking smile.

How treatment runs

  1. Free consultation and 3D scan

A CBCT scan measures the bone height under your sinus and the width of your jaw. You receive your plan and its cost in writing.

  2. Choosing the approach

On your scan, Dr. Nabeel decides between a crestal sinus lift through the implant site, a lateral sinus lift, a block bone graft, a ridge split, or graftless implants that need no new bone at all.

  3. Building the bone

The sinus floor is lifted gently, with Versah burs that compact the bone as they go, or the bone is rebuilt with a block graft and PRF. Piezo surgery shapes the bone precisely and protects the soft tissue.

  4. Implants

With a crestal sinus lift, the implant goes in at the same visit. After a larger graft, the implants are placed once the new bone is ready.

  5. Your new teeth

Your crown, bridge or full arch is fitted on the implants, and Dr. Nabeel reviews them at your check-ups.

Build bone, or go graftless?

Sinus lift or bone graft

Adds bone exactly where the implant will stand. The right choice for a single back tooth under a low sinus, or a front tooth that needs a perfect position.

Graftless implants

Tilted, pterygoid or zygomatic implants use the bone you already have. No graft, one surgery and fixed teeth within 24 hours, ideal for a full arch.

Getting the best from your new bone

  • PRF, made from a small sample of your own blood, is added to the graft to support comfortable, natural healing.
  • Every graft is planned on your 3D scan, so the bone is built exactly where your implant will stand.
  • In the first days, follow your written aftercare: no nose blowing, no smoking and soft food protect your sinus lift and graft.
  • Regular reviews follow your new bone until your implants and teeth are in place.

Dr. Nabeel explains

Over 40 with bone loss? Implants are still for you

Bone loss is natural and doesn't rule out implants. Dr. Nabeel places implants even with bone loss, using a 3D scan and angled implants.

Read what he says

Are you over forty and have bone loss? Don't rush to judge. Bone loss at this age is normal, it doesn't mean you can't have implants. The truth is, the amount of bone isn't the only thing that matters. What matters most is how we plan the case. And now, thanks to modern techniques and specialised angled implants, we can place implants even with bone loss, and sometimes without a bone graft, without patching, without a long wait. But before any step, I have to do a 3D scan and a thorough examination, so we can choose the best solution for you. This is Dr. Nabeel Safwat Al Nahhas, consultant in prosthodontics and dental implants. Book your consultations at Adamah Center, and don't think it's too late. You're still young at forty!

Common questions

Do I really need a bone graft?

Only when it gives you the better result. In Dr. Nabeel's words: it is not only the amount of bone that matters, what matters most is how the case is planned. His tilted, pterygoid and zygomatic implants replace grafting in full-arch cases, and he builds bone when it gives you the stronger, longer-lasting result.

What is a sinus lift?

Above the upper back teeth sits the sinus. When teeth are lost there, the sinus drops into the space and the bone becomes too short for an implant. A sinus lift raises the sinus floor and fills the space beneath it with bone, so the implant has full height to hold it.

What is PRF?

Platelet-rich fibrin. A small sample of your own blood is spun into a natural healing layer, which Dr. Nabeel adds to block bone grafts to support the healing of the bone and gum.

Does a sinus lift hurt?

No. The area is fully numbed, Dr. Nabeel lifts the sinus gently with Versah burs and piezo surgery that protects the soft tissue, and PRF from your own blood supports comfortable healing.

Can I send my scan first?

Yes. Send your panoramic X-ray or CBCT scan on WhatsApp and Dr. Nabeel will tell you whether you need a sinus lift or a graftless option.

When is my implant placed after a sinus lift?

With a crestal sinus lift, the implant goes in at the same visit. After a larger graft, the implants are placed once the new bone is ready.
