Laser-assisted root canal treatment
Dr. Nabeel Al Nahhas, certified by the Academy of Laser Dentistry, saves teeth with laser root canal treatment using the BIOLASE RAPIDEndo protocol on his Waterlase iPlus. After the canals are cleaned and shaped, a radial-firing laser tip creates micro-bubbles and pressure waves inside the canal that strip the walls, destroy the bacterial biofilm and push the disinfectant deep into the tiny tubules of the tooth, where ordinary rinsing does not reach. Published research in the Journal of the American Dental Association (Gordon et al., 2007) showed this laser kills bacteria in infected root canal walls.

How treatment runs
Diagnosis
Free consultation with a digital X-ray to see the tooth and the shape of its canals.
Cleaning and shaping
Under local anaesthetic, the infected tissue is removed and the canals are cleaned and shaped.
RAPIDEndo laser disinfection
The Waterlase radial tip activates the disinfectant with pressure waves and micro-bubbles, cleaning the canal walls and the tubules deep inside the tooth.
Sealing
The clean, dry canals are filled and sealed so bacteria cannot return.
Restoring the tooth
A ceramic inlay, ceramic crown or zirconia crown protects the tooth for the long term.

Laser disinfection or rinsing alone?
RAPIDEndo laser disinfection
Pressure waves and micro-bubbles carry the disinfectant deep into the tubules, remove the smear layer and destroy biofilm.
Rinsing alone
The disinfectant sits in the main canal and does not reach far into the tubules where bacteria hide.

Common questions
Does a root canal hurt?
No. The treatment is done under local anaesthetic, and it removes the infection that causes the pain.
What does the laser add to a root canal?
After the canals are cleaned and shaped, the RAPIDEndo laser activates the disinfectant with pressure waves and micro-bubbles. It strips the canal walls, destroys the bacterial biofilm and reaches deep into the tubules of the tooth.
How many visits does it take?
One or two visits.
How much does laser root canal treatment cost?
The consultation is free and includes a digital X-ray, and Dr. Nabeel gives you your plan and its cost in writing.
